Visa, immigration, and customs information
Visa Requirements
Entry permissions vary by nationality. Find your category below.
Ukraine has a tiered visa policy with visa-free access for many nationalities, eVisa options for some, and traditional visa requirements for others.
Citizens of these countries can enter Ukraine without a visa for tourism or business purposes
Passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond planned departure. The 90-day period applies within any rolling 180-day window, not per calendar year.
Citizens of certain countries can apply for an electronic visa online before travel
Cost: Approximately $85 USD
The eVisa is only valid for entry at designated international airports (including Boryspil and Zhuliany in Kyiv) and some sea ports. Not valid for land border crossings.
Citizens of countries not listed above typically require a traditional visa obtained from a Ukrainian embassy or consulate
Processing time varies by embassy (typically 5-15 business days). Some nationalities may require additional documentation or interviews.
Arrival Process
The entry process at Kyiv airports involves several steps. Be prepared with all required documents and answer questions honestly and concisely.

Special Situations
Additional requirements for specific circumstances.
Children must have their own passport. If traveling with one parent or without parents, a notarized consent letter from the absent parent(s) is required, along with copies of their passports. The letter should authorize travel to Ukraine and include contact information. Birth certificate may be requested to prove relationship.
Pets require a microchip, valid rabies vaccination (at least 21 days old), veterinary health certificate issued within 10 days of travel, and for dogs and cats from certain countries, rabies antibody test. Check specific requirements based on country of origin as EU and non-EU countries have different rules.
To stay longer than 90 days, you must apply for a temporary residence permit at the State Migration Service before your 90-day period expires. This requires valid reason (work, study, family reunification), supporting documents, and may take several weeks to process. Overstaying can result in fines, deportation, and entry bans.
